Science Department

The Department of Natural Science at Mt. Carmel High School has as its primary goal the teaching of science as an activity of discovery which will develop the student’s analytical skills and give the student a body of knowledge about the physical world in which he lives.  The life of every student at Mt. Carmel is affected by the results of scientific activity, scientific knowledge and technological developments. As society becomes even more complex in the future, man’s interdependence on science and technology will become greater.  Therefore, the science curriculum is organized to fulfill two primary purposes:

  • To ensure that all students experience science education as a basis for understanding the natural world in which they live.
  • To develop in all students the scientific principles and analytical skills necessary to be successful in studying science and other disciplines at the college level.
