Theology Department

For 106 years, Mount Carmel High School has been a vital force in the religious formation of young men in the Chicago area.  The Catholic families who personally have been shaped by Carmelite priests and brothers, and by Mount Carmel teachers, number in the tens of thousands.  In turn, the influence those families have had on the communities in which they live and work is immeasurable.

The Mount Carmel Theology curriculum offers students the opportunity to learn more about their faith and to put that knowledge into practice as well.  Included in Mount Carmel's program of religious education are retreats for students at all levels (including the KAIROS retreat held for seniors), monthly school liturgies, reconciliation services during Advent and Lent, Christian service projects, and pastoral counseling.  The Theology Department believes tha all these activities complement the academic study of Theology, and enable our students to develop a solid foundation in faith.
