Mt. Carmel is a private, Catholic college preparatory high school whose mission is to develop young men of character who love God, love life, and love learning. In cooperation with the family, our school offers an educational program which exposes a young man to a variety of ideas and experiences and, in doing so, aims to produce a reflective critical-thinking adult. We establish a solid foundation spiritually, intellectually, socially, culturally, morally, and physically, and expect our students to make progress in these areas according to their abilities, under the requirements of our nation's laws and within the spirit of the Gospel.
Mission Statement:
In proclaming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Church has always recognized the importance of education. The Carmelite Order shares this mission of the Church to preach Jesus Christ and His Gospel, and bring its own inspiration from the examples of the prophet Elijah and the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Carmelites are committed to a life of prophetic witness to the presence and love of God, and of active service to others.
Mt Carmel High School is committeed to these same goals. A life of prophetic witness to the presence and love of God for all challenges us to provide an education to students of different academic abilities. The formation in young men of a deep faith in God that will lead them to a life of active service to others demands that we address the needs of the whole person - spititually, intellectually and physically. Mt. Carmel accepts this challenge by incorporating these ideals into all of its programs and policies. As we face the challenges of a changing world, our fidelity to our Carmelite heritage will enable us to educate young men of character who will carry that vision and heritage with them as they seek their own vocations in the world.
Objectives:
- provide a program of religious studies and encounters that nurtures the faith and understanding of the student and orientes him toward Christian service;
- create a community atmosphere that reflects the Christian challenge and offers experiences that honor human dignity in all school activities;
- assist students in planning their academic programs for today and tomorrow in order that they can pursue vocational and career goals;
- present a college preparatory curriculum which gives each student the chance to grown intellectually and become a life-long learner;
- aid students in the process of self-awareness, humanization and adjustment to life in all of its dimensions;
