American National Biography

Check the MC library card catalog for Biographies on your scientist.

Suggested Databases:

World History Online
This would be a good place to find information on how your scientist’s work ties into the work of other famous scientists. (Look for the hyperlinks within an article or look at the biographies of the other scientists that appear in your search results.)

Electric Library
Besides doing a basic search, you can follow this path within ELibrary to access information on selected scientists:
Choose: Topics->Science/Featured Scientists
(also look for suggested websites within the results)

Biography Resource Center
Great information here but this is a free trial and only available until 11-30-05.

Suggested Web Sites:

Nobel Prize.Org
Information on nobel prize winning scientists. Find acceptance speeches, biographies, interviews, articles, etc.

Public Library Catalogs:

Chicago Public Library (CPL)
Search the library’s online catalog.
CPL also allows you to access some great databases such as World Book, American National Biography, and Biography Resource Center with a library card number. See the Find It section on the library's home page


South Suburban Library Network
Search the online catalogs of the libraries in the South Suburban Network.
