The McCormick Tribune Foundation and Scholastic Press Association of Chicago (SPAC) presented Mount Carmel High School senior,  Anthony Thompson with two awards on Tuesday, March 11.

Thompson was honored for the stories he wrote this year for The Caravan, Mount Carmel High School’s student newspaper.  The awards are in recognition of his “excellent achievement in writing a sports story,” and “superior achievement in writing a personality” profile.

The awards were presented at a luncheon during the 16th annual SPAC High School Journalism Conference at Roosevelt University in Chicago.  Over 200 students from 17 Chicago high schools attended the conference. 

Thompson will be attending the University of Missouri in the fall on a four year $50,000 scholarship to study in the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
