Private Bus / Van System:

Mount Carmel offers a private bus/van system to transport students to and from school in the morning and afternoon. We also offer an activity bus for those students who participate in after school activities. While using Mount Carmel transportation, students are subject to policies outlined in the Parent-Student handbook.

Please Note: the above routes are determined and adjusted each school year based on the location of our student population. 
 

FEES:

The transportation fees for the 2024-2025 school year are as follows:

Round Trip: $1,550           
One Way: $1,102
Round Trip from Train Stations (Union & Ogilvie): $934
One Way Train Stations: $822

Fees will automatically post to your Smart Tuition account. Charges will be dispersed according to the payment plan you selected for tuition payments. 



                                                                  

Public Transportation:

Students may chose to take the Metra train and CTA buses to Mount Carmel and are able to purchase discounted tickets using a valid student ID.  Both Metra and CTA bus stops are located near 63rd Street and Stony Island Avenue.
 
 
The CTA Stony Island Route #28 stops at 64th Street and Stony Island (.2 miles from Mount Carmel).
The CTA Red Line stops at State and Roosevelt. Mount Carmel offers a shuttle service (see above for fee) from the State and Roosevelt Red Line stop.
 
The Metra Electric and South Shore Railroad lines conveniently stop at 63rd Street (.1 miles from Mount Carmel).
Mount Carmel offers a shuttle service (see above for fee) from the Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Centers in the A.M. and P.M. 
 

Student Parking:

Students who drive to school are required to purchase a parking pass. Parking passes can be purchased for $50 in the Spirit Shop. A completed registration form is required in order to purchase a pass. 
 

The Mount Carmel Transportation Facebook page is a resource page for parents and students.  Transportation notifications for issues such as schedule changes, delays, etc. will be posted on this page.  Families can also post carpool opportunities here.  

Please note:  All carpools are privately handled. Mount Carmel does not facilitate any carpool information beyond providing the Facebook page.
