Mathematics

Department Philosophy

The Department of Mathematics at Mount Carmel High School believes that all students regardless of their personal characteristics, backgrounds, or physical challenges, must have the opportunity to study and the support to learn mathematics. Our department members have high expectations for, and give strong support to all students.

Our Curriculum is coherent, focuses on important Mathematics, and is well articulated across the grades. Our teachers understand what students know and need to learn, and then challenge them to learn well. Assessment supports the learning of Mathematics and furnishes useful information to both teachers and students. Incorporating current technology into our curriculum is essential in the teaching and learning of Mathematics at Mount Carmel High School. It influences what is being taught and enhances students’ learning.
