Caravan Sports Physicals

Sports Physicals will be held at school on July 16th beginning at 8:00 AM.  
A team of doctors will be here from Rush Hospital to complete the sport physicals for those who are going to be Sophomore thru Seniors next school year. Click on the story heading for more information. 

Teams battle on softball diamond for 'Keepin' for KFK'
The fourth annual “Keepin’ on for KFK” 16-inch Softball Tournament brought out hundreds of people to Kennedy Park on July 11 in memory of Kevin Kennelly, a Beverly teen who died in July 2011. According to officials, $10,000 was raised. That money will go toward the Kevin Kennelly Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to students at Mt. Carmel High School, where Kennelly would have been a senior in the fall of 2011.
Two Mount Carmel students accepted into University of Chicago's Future Leaders of Chicago program
Mount Carmel rising seniors Vincent Zarate, of Tinley Park, and Nnamdi Okabuonye, of South Holland, were accepted into the University of Chicago’s Future Leaders of Chicago summer program.    The program was founded by a group of civic leaders, educators, and professionals who care about developing Chicago’s next generation of leaders. From August 3-7, Zarate and Okabuonye will meet and engage with business and civic leaders, participate in professional development, and partake in college preparatory activities. 
Simeon Rice goes from football to filmmaker
Eight years have passed since his final NFL sack, yet Simeon Rice is still obsessed with the thrill of the hunt. In his six seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rice set a high standard while chasing down quarterbacks. He was credited with 69.5 sacks in 87 regular-season games with Tampa Bay and excelled in the playoffs, with seven sacks in five postseason matchups. A Chicago native who played football at Mt. Carmel and Illinois, Rice spent 12 seasons in the NFL.
