Department Philosophy

The Department of Natural Science at Mount Carmel High School has, as its primary goal, the teaching of science as an activity of discovery that will develop the student’s analytical skills and give the students a body of knowledge about the physical world which he lives in.
The life of every student at Mount Carmel is affected by the results of a scientific activity, scientific knowledge, and technological developments.


Students are required to take 12 trimesters (4 credits), including biology, to graduate

Science Department Goals

As society becomes even more complex in the future, man’s interdependence on science and technology will become even greater. Therefore, the science curriculum is organized to fulfill two primary purposes:
  1. To ensure that all students experience science education as a basis for understanding the natural world in which they live.
  2. To develop in all students the scientific principles and analytical skills necessary to be successful in studying science as well as other disciplines at the college level.
