Virtual 8th Grade Algebra Class

 

Benefits

  • Take the course from the convenience of your home virtually
  • Program is designed and taught live each day by Mount Carmel math teachers
  • Provides a solid foundation for AP level math courses during high school
  • All materials will be provided by Mount Carmel
  • Offers High School level credit and provides an opportunity to begin high school in Honors level Geometry or Honors level Algebra II

Schedule

  • The course will be given from 7:10 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.
    Monday – Thursday, beginning at the start of the 2021-2022 academic year
  • Follow the Mount Carmel school calendar

Sections

  • Two sections will be available
  • 15-20 students per section

To be Considered for the Program

  • Submit most recent 7th grade report card
  • Letter of recommendation needed from current teacher or principal to qualify
  • Students will also be required to submit most recent standardized test score (ex: NWEA, ISTEP, IREADY)

Cost

  • $300

  • TI-84 Graphing Calculator
  • Dress Code for the class will be 8th grade school uniform

Teacher Background

Mr. Dominic Villa '13

Mr. Villa is a graduate of Mount Carmel. He has been teaching here for the last four years. He holds a Bachelors in Education from Saint Xavier University with focuses in Mathematics, Language Arts, and Social Studies. Mr. Villa also holds his LBS (learning behavior specialist) certification.

Mr. Dave Milavickas

Mr. Milavikas has taught at Mount Carmel for five years. He holds a Bachelors in Business and minors in Education and Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. He also holds a Masters in Mathematics Education from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
