About Night of Champions

Join us on March 4, 2023 at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park for the annual Night of Champions fundraiser! Your $75 ticket includes food and beverages for the entire evening. 

All proceeds directly benefit student athletics, clubs, and activities at Mount Carmel. These funds are critical to the Mount Carmel experience, as we strive for 100% participation in extracurricular activities. Your attendance and participation makes a difference in the experience of Mount Carmel students.

The Carey Fagan Award

We are excited to share that the Furjanic Family has been named the recipients of the 2023 Carey Fagan Award. 

Seven sons attended Mount Carmel High School (and three daughters receiving proud catholic educations) with participation in football, wrestling, track, golf and volleyball. They have obtained advanced degrees from Marquette, Notre Dame, Yale, Northwestern, DePaul, and the Catholic Theological Union. With careers in Real Estate, Nursing and Financial Planning among others, the Furjanic Family has made a commitment to helping others.

Man in the Arena Award

We are excited to share the recipients of the 2023 Man in the Arena Award. Congratulations to each of them!

Sue Doheny

Sue Doheny served Mount Carmel as the Athletic Department Administrative Assistant for 18 years, she coordinated ticket sales and helped to manage the spirit shop while helping our coaches and student athletes. Sue is a past Mothers' Club President and an Alumni Mom. 

Cody Stanley '09

Cody Stanley '07 was the Captain of the the first Catholic League Soccer Championship Team at Mount Carmel -- and helped lead the Caravan to victory. Cody was named a Tony Lawless Award winner and recipient of All State honors as well as being awarded the Times "Player of the Year."

Daniel Letz '02

Daniel Letz '02 was a Football State Champion and a Prep Bowl Champion in back to back years (2000 and 2001.) He is a member of the elite 4-time Fight Night Champion crew and now volunteers his time to serve as a trainer and coach for Fight Night each year.

Antonio Godinez

Antonio Godinez has coached soccer at Mount Carmel for 12 years. His teams have been Catholic League Champions six different times. Antonio himself is a 3-time Tony Lawless Award Winner. In 2016 Antonio led the Caravan to a State Runner Up finish.

Jim Mercon '69

Jim Mercon '69 was a two-way starter when he helped lead the 1967 Prep Bowl Team to the championship as a junior. Was co captain as a senior in 1968. A four-year member of football, 3-year swimmer and senior class officer, Jim cared to struggle and work hard. He returned to MC as a teacher and coach. His support of the school is admirable. 

1993 Wrestling Team

The 1993 Wrestling Team boasted an undefeated season and won every tournament. Claiming Catholic League and State Championship Titles helped the Caravan finish the year ranked second in the nation. Hard work and determination certainly motivated this incredible group of men to such a successful season.
