Lt. Col Kenneth B. Petersen, Class of 1961, recognized by Smithsonian

Lt. Col Kenneth B. Petersen, USMC will be recognized on the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum Wall of Honor for his tremendous service with our armed forces along with his incredible work with engineering and aviation.  

After graduation from Mount Carmel, Lt. Col Petersen attended the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Upon graduation from IIT, he received his commission as a 2nd Lt. in the Marines. From July 1968 to July 1969, Petersen flew 212 combat missions in Viet Nam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for a close air support mission on October 2, 1968. When Lt. Col Petersen retired in 1985, in addition to his Distinguished Flying Cross, he accumulated 22 Air Medals and the Navy Commendation Medal with two combat Vs.

Lt. Col Petersen currently resides with his wife Rita and daughter McKenna in Monterey, CA.  He is a partner with Petersen & Ramistella, Inc. and a member of the Marine Corps Aviation Society and Distinguished Flying Cross Society.
