Class of 1998 Hosts 20th Reunion

On April 21, 2018, the Alumni Association hosted more than 40 members of the Class of 1998 for a celebration marking the 20th anniversary of their graduation.  The informal event was organized by a committee of classmates that included Jim Gilbert, Mike Holland, Theron Lowery, Gavin McAuliffe, Tim O'Connell, James Petrungaro and Andy Potocki.

The event featured food and drinks while the group spent time congregating in the Commons and telling tales from their time at Mount Carmel.  A highlight of the night was the attendance of four special guests, Mr. Jim Docherty, Mr. Pete Kammholz, Mr. Mark Antonietti, and Mr. Bill Nolan.  Each of these faculty members taught the Class of 1998 during their time at the school, and it was a lot of fun for the class to catch up with them.

The event culminated in a tour around campus to see how much things have changed in the 20 years since graduation.  Since the class attended MC, Haggerty baseball field was constructed, the Convocation Center and McCarthy wing was built, the student parking lot was added where St. Gelasius school once stood, and the football field now has a field turf surface.  Many in the group had not yet seen any of these changes. The tour continued in the main school building where the class was able to reminisce in Alumni gym and then get a first-hand look at the renovations occurring in the building. Everyone was amazed at the transformation of the third and second floors.

It was a great evening for the class, who are already looking forward to their next reunion and exploring options for more class activities in the meantime.
