Mount Carmel High School invites all male 8th-grade students to take the entrance exam on
Saturday, December 1st. Beginning now, prospective students may pre-register for the entrance
exam by visiting www.mchs.org/page/admissions.

Mount Carmel High School invites all male 8th-grade students to take the entrance exam on
Saturday, December 1st. Beginning now, prospective students may pre-register for the entrance
exam by visiting www.mchs.org/page/admissions.

While pre-registration is encouraged, Mount Carmel will accept walk-up registration on the day
of the exam. Students testing at Mount Carmel are expected to bring two No. 2 pencils and a $25
testing fee, which can be either cash or a check made payable to Mount Carmel High School.
Mount Carmel administers the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Criteria used for decisions
regarding acceptance and academic placement include the results of the HSPT, and 7th and 8th
grade grammar school records. Calculators may not be used on the HSPT.

Those who take the exam at Mount Carmel are eligible for several scholarship opportunities.
New scholarships this year include:

● The Fr. David Dillon, O.Carm. ‘57 Scholarship - Students who score in the 98th or
99th percentile on the HSPT will receive a full-tuition scholarship for all four years,
based on continued strength in academics and commitment to Caravan Values.

● The Nicholas A. Iosue Scholarship - Students who score in the 85th to 97th percentile
on the HSPT will receive a tuition reduction scholarship of 25% for all four years, based
on continued strength in academics and commitment to Caravan Values.

● Public Safety First Responder Scholarship - Awarded to students whose parents serve
as police officers, firefighters, or paramedics. This award is also available to students
who have a parent currently deployed in the U.S. military. ($1,000, renewable).

Information on all scholarships that are available can be found at www.mchs.org/scholarships.
Parents of eighth graders who are taking the Test are invited to attend an information session
with school administrators at 8:30 a.m. The session will cover admissions and Financial Aid
information. It will take place in the Convocation Center.
