Dear Mount Carmel Parents and Guardians:
We are constantly monitoring the changing environment concerning the unprecedented impact COVID-19 is having on the world. Today, the Chicago Archdiocese announced the closing of their Catholic Schools for an undetermined amount of time.
As you know, Mount Carmel utilized today for a teacher development/planning day in the event we would need to close for an extended period of time. Our leadership team met today, we have decided to close for the next two weeks, beginning Monday March 16th.
We will be implementing an e-learning plan:
- Communication regarding specific classes will be come directly from the teacher
- Assignments will be posted on a digital platform daily, (i.e. Google Classroom)
- A deadline for each assignment will be clearly communicated
- Teachers will make themselves available via email, digital meeting, phone call, etc. each day for a prolonged period of time. Teachers will communicate directly with their classes regarding their availability.
- Students should communicate directly with teachers regarding any questions
During this time our facilities will not be available to any students and all extracurricular activities including practices / games are cancelled. All spring sports have been suspended.
We will continue to extensively clean our facilities. We encourage our students and families to practice social distancing. Our leadership team will continue to assess this situation on a daily basis and communicate with families as additional information becomes available.
