  • College Appeals for Financial Aid

    As financial circumstances have changed, students now have a unique opportunity to negotiate for more aid as colleges are looking to ensure levels of tuition.
    How to appeal for financial
    • Most colleges have a formal appeals (or informal negotiation) process, in which students can write a letter requesting that their financial aid packages be reconsidered.
    • Even in normal years, students have a particularly good shot at more financial aid if (1) their family's financial circumstances have changed, like a parent losing their job, or (2) if they have received a higher financial aid offer from a similar college.
    • This year, however, colleges may be more willing to provide additional financial assistance, just to guarantee some income through a tuition check (even for a lower-than-usual amount!)

  • Updates to ACT, SAT and College Board test dates

    Per ACT and College Board, please see the following exam schedule.  Please visit ACT.org or www.collegeboard.org for testing updates and more information. 

    SAT and SAT Subject Tests 

    • May 2 - Canceled. Students who have already registered for the May 2 SAT or SAT Subject Tests will receive refunds. 
    • June 6 - Still scheduled. The College Board is planning on holding the SAT and SAT Subject Tests nationwide this day. 
      • Registration Deadline: May 8 
      • Projected Score Release: July 15 
    • August 29 (anticipated) - Still scheduled. The College Board is anticipating August 29 as the first date for the 2020-2021 SAT Nationwide Administration Dates. Both the SAT and SAT Subject Tests will be offered. No registration deadline for this test has been announced. 
    • April 4 - Canceled. Students who have already registered for the April 4 ACT will have the option to reschedule to a later date or receive a refund.  
    • June 13 - Still scheduled. ACT is planning on holding the ACT test nationwide this day.
      • Registration Deadline: May 8 
      • Projected Score Release: June 23  
    • July 18 - Still scheduled. ACT is planning on holding the ACT this day in all states except for New York.
      • Registration Deadline: June 19
      • Projected Score Release: July 28

    AP Exams

    • May 4 through May 15 - Will take place online. AP Exams will still be held from May 4-8 and May 11-15. Any student already registered for an exam can choose to cancel at no charge. 
      • The test will be a 45-minute online test with free-response questions
      • The test will have no multiple-choice questions 
      • We encourage you to continue checking the AP Updates Page for further information. AP Central is projecting to release full exam schedule, specific free-response question types, and additional testing details by April 3.
