Private Bus/Van System

Mount Carmel offers a private bus/van system to transport students to and from school in the morning and afternoon. We also offer an activity bus for those students who participate in after school extra-curricular activities. While using Mount Carmel transportation, students are subject to policies outlined in the Parent-Student handbook.

Please note the above routes are determined and adjusted each summer based on the location of our student population. Pick-up and drop-off locations will be communicated in June.


The transportation fee for the 2019/2020 school year are shown below. The fee will automatically post to your SmartTuition account. Charges and payments will be dispersed according to the payment plan you selected for tuition payments.

Round Trip: $1,250

One Way Shuttle: $600 (Union & Ogilivie Station)
One Way: $850 (Neighborhood Bus) 
$1,450: One Way Neighborhood plus One Way Shuttle

CTA/METRA Options:

Students may take CTA trains and buses to Mount Carmel which are located near 64th street and Stony Island Avenue stops.

Students can take public transportation to Mount Carmel. The CTA and Metra offer discounted fares for all students who purchase tickets using a valid student ID.
The CTA Stony Island Route #28 stops at 64th Street and Stony Island (.2 miles from Mount Carmel).
The CTA Red Line stops at State and Roosevelt. Mount Carmel offers a shuttle service (for the fee listed above) from the State and Roosevelt Red Line stop.
The Metra Electric and South Shore Railroad lines conveniently stop at 63rd Street (.1 miles from Mount Carmel).
Mount Carmel offers a shuttle service (for the fee listed above) from the Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Centers in the A.M. and P.M.

Driving to Mount Carmel

Students who drive to school are required to register and purchase a parking pass. Parking passes can be purchased for $50 in the Spirit Shop. A completed registration form is required in order to purchase a pass.

The Mount Carmel Transportation Facebook page is a resource page for parents and students. Families can post carpool opportunities on this page. (All carpools will be privately handled. Mount Carmel will not facilitate any carpool information beyond providing the Facebook page.)
