St. Albert Award Recipients

Michael (H) and Maureen Schmidt are this year‘s honorees for the Saint Albert Award, Mount Carmel‘s highest honor. The award is bestowed annually on an individual or couple who have been faithfully devoted and generous to the mission of Mount Carmel High School and the Mount Carmel Educational Foundation. The Schmidts' commitment to Mount Carmel began when their son, Michael, Class of 2005, entered as a freshman from Most Holy Redeemer School.

The Schmidts have remained consistently generous to Mount Carmel ever since, and are equally committed to the Mount Carmel Educational Foundation. Over the years, they have co-chaired the Gala and consistently provided sponsorships. Most recently, they have generously seeded the Frank Coci Memorial Scholarship, an endowed scholarship supporting MC students.

Their belief in Catholic education extended to all their family, including daughters Jill, Christine, Meghan and Mary Kate, who attended Mother McAuley, St. Ignatius and Providence High Schools. Mike is active as an alumnus, Board member and benefactor at John Carroll University, the Jesuit University in Cleveland, and he advocates for Mount Carmel graduates to consider John Carroll.

About a year ago, Mike retired from his role as Vice President at Micronics Engineered Filtration and he and Maureen take great joy in their large extended family, including 10 grandchildren.

We look forward to celebrating Mike and Maureen and recognizing the lasting impact they have made on Mount Carmel.
