Mount Carmel Changes Lives

Shadow MC

Mount Carmel's Shadow Day Program gives current 7th and 8th grade boys who are seriously considering Mount Carmel the opportunity to spend the day at Mount Carmel High School and experience firsthand what it is like to be a member of the Caravan.

If you are currently in high school but considering transferring, please contact our Admissions Office in advance to discuss a potential shadow day.

When completing the Shadow Day Request Form, please select only one date for your son to visit.

Students participating in a Shadow Day should be prepared to attend a full day of classes.  If you or your son's schedule does not allow him to be on campus until the 2:40 p.m. dismissal time, please select another day when his schedule would accommodate a full day's visit.

  • Arrival / Dismissal Procedures
    • Shadow Days begin at 8:05 a.m.* and conclude at 2:40 p.m.
    • Visiting students should enter through the main entrance and proceed to the Admissions Office, Room 116.
    • Guests will be dismissed through the main entrance at the end of the day.
* Most Wednesdays are late start days with classes beginning at 9:05 a.m. You will receive an email from a member of our Admissions team confirming your arrival time.
  • Attire
    • There is a preferred dress code for our Shadow Day guests.
    • Grammar school guests are encouraged to wear their school uniforms if they have one.
    • Visiting students may also wear khaki, navy, gray, or black pants (no joggers, cargo pants, jeans, or shorts), a collared shirt (no t-shirts or hoodies), and casual shoes (no casual boots, sandals, or Crocs).
    • Earnings are also not to be worn during the school day.  Students will be asked to remove them.
    • Gym shoes are allowed as your son's shadow day host may have a gym period.
    • Socks and a belt should be worn.
  • Lunch
    • Lunch will be provided ($10 value).
    • If your son has food allergies or dietary restrictions, he is encouraged to bring his lunch.
    • Visiting students can bring a few dollars if they decide to get a snack or drink during the visit.
