If you or your spouse are age 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to Mount Carmel High School. A QCD counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may reduce your taxable income—while making a meaningful impact for our students.
How it works:
- You can transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from your IRA to a qualified charity like Mount Carmel.
- The gift can satisfy part or all of your annual RMD.
- Because the distribution goes directly to Mount Carmel, it is not included in your taxable income.
If you plan to make a gift from your IRA this year, it’s best to begin the process soon to ensure your transfer is completed by December 31.
