Alumni Spotlight: Mark Boyle 2002 Delivers Class of 2018 Commencement Speech

A member of the Mount Carmel Class of 2002 – and the first of three brothers to graduate from MC – Mark is an Associate in the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs. He joined Goldman after earning his MBA from Duke University. A former US Army Captain, Mark was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in Operation Iraqi Freedom, as well as the Combat Infantryman Badge. While deployed to Baghdad, Mark led a 40-man rifle platoon in the 101st Airborne Division as it conducted counter-insurgency and stability operations. He is a graduate of US Army Airborne and Ranger Schools, and also served in the Army’s Honor Guard Company in Washington, DC. Additionally, Mark received a BS in International Relations from the United States Military Academy (West Point). During his time as a cadet, Mark was named one of West Point’s fellows at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and was the recipient of the Dana Meade Award for Excellence in International Relations, presented to the top cadet in the International Relations major. His current civic involvements include serving on the Chairman’s Advisory Council of the Big Shoulders Fund, and on the board of Mount Carmel’s Alumni Association. A former endurance runner, he completed the 2010 and 2011 JFK Memorial 50 Mile Ultramarathons. Mark is originally from Beverly’s St. Barnabas Parish, and he and his wife Elizabeth currently reside in the Lakeview neighborhood.
