Parking:
Parking is limited to the streets surrounding the Chapel.
There is no parking lot.
No spaces will be reserved.
Families are encouraged to carpool or even consider parking at Mount Carmel and making the short walk to the Chapel.
Ceremony:
The procession will begin promptly at 5:25 p.m. and doors will open at 5:00 p.m. Seating is first come, first serve and all guests will be required to present a ticket for entry.
Graduates were issued their tickets at graduation practice.
All candidates are expected to be in full regalia by 5:00 p.m. outside of the main entrance to the Chapel (along 58th street.)
Candidate Dress Code:
Guidelines for graduation candidate attire – no exceptions will be made:
Candidates must wear their issued Mount Carmel Cap and Gown and tassel / stole when appropriate.
Candidates are prohibited from tossing their caps in the air inside of the Chapel at any time – per University of Chicago Policy.
Caps and gowns must not be altered (or decorated) in any manner.
Collared shirts and ties are required. Candidates do not have to wear a sport coat under their gowns.
Dress shoes are required – no crocs, sandals, gym shoes, slides, slippers, Yeezies or the like.
All regular dress code rules pertaining to hair, facial hair, tattoos and jewelry still apply.
Failure to adhere to any of the above will result in the candidate not participating in the graduation ceremony.
Exit:
Graduates will exit the chapel in procession form at the conclusion of the ceremony and will proceed to the 58th Street Entrance.
Graduates will collect their official Mount Carmel Diploma from their counselor at this time.
All balances must be paid in full, and all credits recovered successfully in order for the candidates Mount Carmel Diploma to be presented that evening.
Families will meet their graduate on the lawn and may take photos outside only.
There will be no re-entry to the Chapel for any reason.
Notes for parents and guardians:
ALL parents and guests are to remain in their seats during the duration of the Mass and Ceremony.
Parents are not permitted to enter the aisles of the chapel for any reason during the Mass or the Ceremony.
Noisemakers, balloons, horns, etc. are not allowed inside of the Chapel.
Phones and cameras should not be used during the celebration of the Mass.
