Write of Passage

Students engage with composing and revising original works while taking a closer look at language as a representation of thought. Using revision tactics, peer feedback, and studying various examples in current publications or events, students hone their creative skills in composition and delivery. While short stories and essays are welcome, the focus of the club is to get students involved with poetry slams which combine the rigor of public presentation with the delicacy of poetry. The overall goal of the club is to perform an original piece at the Young Chicago Author’s Louder Than A Bomb poetry slam competition.
